Good Christmas Morning Pathfinders! I am sitting in front of my family’s Christmas tree just enjoying the morning sun. I am trying to drink in the beauty in each of the elements displayed around me. Small white lights glowing against a deep green tree. Beautiful, sparkly ornaments which reflect the lights like little jewels. A beautiful Poinsettia plant, full of blooms, sits on the table in front of me next to an ornate Bible someone gave our family a few years ago. There are animals curled up around the house snoozing away the morning. I smell eggs cooking in the kitchen and Christmas carols are flowing in from another room in the house. As I look around there lots more touches signifying the Season we are experiencing. Bows, packages, candles, a fire in the fireplace, evergreen boughs, a second smaller tree which was from my grandfather’s apartment while he was still with us and snow outside the window. I have a glass of eggnog and a cup of hot coffee at my side. What more could signify Christmas?
…and His Name shall be called Wonderful,
Counsellor,
the mighty God, the everlasting Father,
the Prince of Peace.”
There isn’t anything I could say that hasn’t already been said a thousand times before, so I will give you the best words possible, those from the heart of God Himself. “…Fear not, Mary; for thou hast found favour with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end…For with God nothing shall be impossible…And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour…For he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name. And his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation. He hath shown strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away. he hath helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy…And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”
May your hearts be full of the joy of Christ today. May your walk with Christ be full of His mercy and love and may you truly know the joy of the season in all you experience.
Merry Christmas to you and all of your family from all of us here at Pathfinders!
